主讲人简介:

Hesham R. El-Seedi 教授致力于从药用植物、海洋、蜂产品、合成和生物合成中分离和阐明生物活性天然产物的结构。是日本庆应义塾大学 JSPS 研究员。在其职业生涯中,曾在国际公认的先驱实验室工作,包括瑞士日内瓦大学、梅努菲亚大学、瑞典皇家理工学院、斯德哥尔摩大学和乌普萨拉大学。已在同行评审的国际期刊上发表了 420 多篇同行评审的国际研究文章和科学论文、评论、章节,其中包括《柳叶刀》(当前 IF 约 168.7)。曾在全球200多场国际科学会议上介绍自己的研究成果并获奖。他是一些国际期刊的编辑和主编

Hesham R. El-Seedi working in isolation and structure elucidation of biologically active natural products from medicinal plants, marine, bee products, synthesis and biosynthesis. Hesham is a fellow of JSPS, Keio University, Japan. Throughout his carrier, he worked in pioneer internationally recognized laboratories including Geneva University, Switzerland; Menoufia University, KTH; Stockholm University, Uppsala University, Sweden.

He has published more than 420 peer-reviewed international research articles and scientific papers, reviews, chapters in Peer-Reviewed International Journals among them: The Lancet (Current IF around 168.7).

He has presented his research at over 200 International scientific conferences worldwide and received awards. He is Editor and as Editor of some International Journals.

讲座摘要:

Since thousands of years ago, studies have been carried out globally especially in China and the Middle East to verify the efficacy of foods and medicinal herbs. Some of the research findings have led to the production of natural products sources-based medicines. In this talk, some potential natural products with beneficial health effects will be presented. First, the importance of traditional plants i.e., Allium sativum and A. cepa (onion) (Quranic Plants); that are used against diabetes type 2, coronary heart disease, obesity, hypercholesterolemia, and hypertension. Moreover, the importance of Cactaceae plants was proved since ancient times; for example, our mescaline discovery from peyote cactus Lophophora williamsii. shown that the compound displayed psychotropic properties and peyote samples appear to be the oldest plant drug ever i.e. as long as 5700 years ago.  Another plant that is traditionally used to reduce blood pressure, regulate body temperature, enhance urination, and cause depletion of antioxidants is Karkadeh (Hibiscus sabdariffa (roselle)). Its anti-hypertensive culinary properties as well as therapeutic effects were proved by metabolic tools to be due to the presence of anthocyanins, and similarly, the large-scale metabolite profiling of Ficus sycomorus (Sycamore Fig) extract, were found to inhibit intestinal coccidiosis in experimentally infected rabbits (in vivo studies). The talk will tackle the Green tea, as a non-fermented tea (Camellia sinensis), and its bioactive constituents and antioxidant capability were determined by NIR spectroscopy coupled with swarm intelligence algorithm. Finally, the discussion will handle the utilization of advanced microencapsulation technology to enhance Diabetes Type 2 treatment based on bioavailability of phenolic compounds. Thus, microencapsulated polyphenols, instead of free compounds, can effectively alleviate the problem.
